I use an all natural, water-based clear coat finish on all of my products to seal in in the healthiest of ways. I do not use stains. The darkening of the wood comes from applying the shou sugi ban technique. All other colors used are from a hand mixed water based paint. This allows not only for my workshop space to stay healthy, clean and safe to breathe in but also for your home and studio environment as well.Silver steel rods are used for each tier to hold even the heavier yoga mats, as well as for busier studio environments. Rod holes are reinforced with deep pocketed steel for ease of sliding rods into position. Every yoga mat holder is one of a kind due to the nature of each board having its own individual grain patterning, knotting and sap levels for absorption. Each item is handcrafted individually at the time of ordering.The Shou Sugi Ban (Yakisugi) technique is an ancient Japanese fire burning technique used to traditionally preserve wood by charring it with fire. I use this application on all of my items. It is an important part of my designs and my process of using all 4 elements in the making of my pieces. I switch between a dark charred to a light shou sugi ban burn in varying degrees to accentuate the wood grains while giving a warm feel of natural earthen element.COLOR WASH CHOICES: Colors vary slightly on each board due to wood grains, amount of sap in wood and how much color the wood will absorb while still allowing grains and knots in each board to show through. Turquoise – Turquoise tones all over the wood grains. Lotus is natural wood grains.Coral Pink – Soft coral pink. Lotus is natural wood grains.Citrus Green – A vibrant yellow green mix. Lotus is natural wood grains.Mossy greens – Deep green tones of a forest. Lotus is natural wood grains.White Wash – White color wash covering the front. Lotus is natural wood grains.Natural – Natural wood tones for the background and a White Washed lotus flowers.*All 5 elements are intentionally used in the making of all my products.
