This vinyasa flow is the most energising sequence in this series yet. You will feel alert, bright, open and revitalised. It’s also very good for your posture, helping to open up the chest and front side of the pelvis. WARNING: if you have a history of back problems, please consult a doctor before performing this class.
The term ‘back bend’ is a bit misleading as people assume that the emphasis should be in bending the back. Instead, emphasis should be on opening the front of our physical body. This makes back bends the most energetically stimulating of all poses in yoga because they fully open up our airways and the increased flow of breathe gives us energy or prana. That’s why when we work towards an open heart, we feel so good.
And what a day to have, another beautiful day in my hometown, St Ives. I feel blessed by this run of good weather and I made the most of it. There’s a storm forecast two days ahead and yoga in the rain isn’t as much fun!
