Manuel and Esmirna Lazo, master weavers in the village of Teotitlan, Oaxaca, Mx, and I have cultivated a friendly and equal partnership. They are part of a long lineage of master weavers in this village and it is an honor to work with them. The weft, (the whole design that you can see), is wool. All of the wool is either in its’ natural state, or dyed using all natural materials from Mother Nature. These natural materials are collected in the land surrounding the weavers home. The preparation and dying of the yarn is extensive.The creation of a rug is time consuming and labor intensive. The curved design on this rug is complicated to weave and requires special skill and experience.This rug has a base of color dyed from pomegranate with accents of indigo and cochineal.DIMENSIONS: 68in x 24 1/2inCare instructions:The lanolin content of the wool will naturally repel stains and moisture, and it will last lifetimes with proper care. Vacuum weekly.To shake the rug out, hold it on the long side (non-fringe side).Spot clean with a soft toothbrush, gentle soap and cold water.Hand wash or machine wash on gentle cycle, with gentle soap and cold water.Do not put in the dryer.Allow the rug to dry outside, out of direct sunlight.If the rug becomes very soiled, it is recommend to dry clean with a local cleaner that deals with rugs.If the rug is to be a wall hanging, please remember that it is wool and therefore susceptible to moths.
