This video shows how to adjust the foot and ankle when sitting cross-legged, in order to relieve pain on the inside of the knee. Collapsing of the outer ankle when sitting cross-legged can result in a ‘pinching’ on the inside of the knee. Make this adjustment to your sitting position and you may find that your inner knee pain is relieved.

Very helpful, I've sat this way all my life, but now it's painful in my right knee.
