In this video I introduce you to what is known in yoga as Dandasana or Staff Pose. I consider this to be a very basic human posture that, biology allowing, we would like to be able to do with ease.
A few modifications to make this more accessible:
1. Sit up on a little block or meditation cushion; back upright, legs straight.
2. Sit farther from the wall with your back reclined rather than upright; legs remain flat on the floor. This will focus the stretch more in the legs.
3. Sit upright legs bent slightly at the knee; you may introduce a pillow or bolster under the knees. This will focus the stretch more in the low back.
