Sitting on the mat, I was struck by sorrow. In these times of solitude, Adriene is actually the person I see the most. I wake up to her voice every morning. I go to her when I am desperate for relief, and whether I'm feeling joy or pain. She has become so important in the lives of so many. I mourn, in a bittersweet way, that we can't all link hands and extend this love fully to one another. We go through our experience alone. It's sad, but it's also a wonderful mystery, life is. When I lay on my mat, I can feel the weight of my body pulling down and the support of the floor taking up that weight, sending it back to me. I notice the places I am tense and where I'm at ease. I feel my chest expand with breath. Miraculously, I'm alive π And I know that others also bear the weight, the counterweight, the expansion, the contraction, the pain, the pleasure, and everything else. I'm grateful for many reasons to Adriene: teacher, friend, and mother of this community.
