In Sanskrit, the word yoga comes from the root Yuj which means “to add”, “to join”, “to unite”, or “to attach” in its most common senses. It is a group of physical, mental, and spiritual practices or disciplines which originated in ancient India with a broad variety of practices and goals taking roots from Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism.
Yoga, a name unanimously associated with consciousness and well-being, has been deemed as intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO in December 2016.
